“There aren’t enough great things I can say about Mark and Jared and how much training at PSTS has helped my progress as an athlete. I began training at the facility in the summer of 2011 during the NFL lockout. From Day 1, I could sense a standard of quality and hard work that everyone brought to the table. Over time, I could see myself getting stronger and pushing through new thresholds I had never met. By the time I got to training camp, I knew I was physically stronger then I had ever been in my life, and it showed. I went through my rookie season with no injuries, and was able to maintain my strength, and that is a direct credit to the training program I did at PSTS. After the season when Jared asked me if I wanted to come back to train before I have to report back for off season training with Jacksonville, it was a no brainer! I couldn’t have went anywhere with a more dedicated and hard working bunch of guys to get better with everyday.”

Dear Mark,
I would like to thank you so much for the time spent at the PSTS this winter. It is truly a one of a kind place to train for Grand Rapids area athletes. In a span of two short months my lifting stats went through the roof. I put on 10lbs of body weight while improving my vertical jump. I also gained over 100lbs on my box squat and almost 40lbs on my bench- allowing me to hit my long-time goal of 300lbs, which used to be merely a dream. The lifting techniques and nutrition tips are things I will have for the rest of my life and will use to continue building my body to be the best athlete I can be. Heading into spring practice this season I can already tell that your training has made me a much better athlete. I look forward to training with you again soon.
Thanks again-
Gus Penning

“Before training with Mark I was making gains but not at the pace I knew I was capable of. Once I applied Mark’s tips on exercise technique and how to really train, I started to rapidly improve. I put on 20lbs of useful bodyweight and still box jumped a personal record of 45”. My 40 time also improved as Mark helped me with my form and set-up. I went from doing 6 chin-ups to banging out 15+! My bench max went from 235lbs to 265lbs in 8 weeks. I safely added over 80lbs to my squat once Mark tweaked my technique and I worked hard on his program. Overall, I’m stronger and more powerful. I enjoy training with Mark at PowerStrength because it’s more focused than a high school weight room and the guys I train with take their training way more seriously. One of the biggest gains I’ve made though has been with my confidence. I’m now one of the strongest guys on my team and that extra confidence has definitely carried over to the field. Mark actually cares and takes the time to teach you everything you need and motivates you. I like how he’s laid back at times and acts more like a teammate to us than a coach. I have goals of playing college football and I believe what he’s done, and doing, for me will help me succeed at the next level.” – PSTS Athlete, Austin McCrory

"Before I started training with Mark, I would workout 3 days a week and I would bench on all those days. That’s not a program that’s a waste of my time. I stuck with it for almost two months. And I rarely worked out my legs and I was too scared to even attempt squatting. I made some gains but that quickly stopped. Working with Mark this past year I finally got stronger and reached one of my goals of a 500lb box squat! My bench went from 185lbs to 245lbs. The deadlift was something I really disliked but it’s something that I have grown to love. I went from nothing to 425lbs on the deadlift. My gains in the “big three” were phenomenal but they weren’t the only things that Mark changed for me.
In order to squat 500 pounds your technique has to be great. Mark taught me the meaning of proper form and without proper technique you aren’t lifting, you’re just aimlessly going through the motions. That’s something that’s frowned upon at PSTS.
I now have a proud 39-inch box jump; I can do 25 proper push-ups. I am more athletic, stronger and disciplined thanks to Mark and PowerStrength. Confidence is chiseled into your mind and body from his program.
The environment at PSTS is only for people serious about getting stronger, bigger and faster. We are a family that wants to make gains in life. I recommend that you don’t train with us if you’re going to slow us down. If you’re going for the same reasons as us and want to make gains, get stronger and become a serious athlete, then the family welcomes you. I recommend that you train with Mark. The reason I do is because he knows what he’s doing. He lives and breathes his program. In this gym you don’t just pay for the equipment. You pay for the environment and Mark’s guidance; he’s just nice enough to give you a place to lift.” – PSTS Athlete, Ahmad Qassem
